SV Granite & Design
A website showcasing professional services provided by an independent Granite based installation company.

While the following challenges are not exclusive to this project, this project was selected to showcase these particular difficulties.
Special Challenges
Tone for this project had to be professional as this small business was looking to present their legitimacy. The was mainly done via layout. The page communicates experience by highlighting different areas of work within a home, types of materials used, and the different scale of projects undertaken.
A Logo design is not something I had done previously, but an opportunity to learn and grow is always nice and I did have a lot hand illustration experience. Plus this client needed a way to stand out from the rest so I took the challange and the result was thankfully to both our satisfaction. The company initials SV are the focal point and are respresented by tools of the trade. A granite buffer and its chord form an S, with the buffer shining the granite slab below and leaving a shine mark. The V is represented by a stone seam setter which is used to close gaps between big stone slabs say the slabs connecting in the corner of a kitchen. This logo is innocuous enough that it can simply be read as SV Granite and Design from afar, but if you are from the trade, within the industry, or simply a little more detail oriented the letters can be read as the tools they are and show in playful way that there is a dedication to the craft of granite and stone work.
Design for this project had to stay within the confines of professional, and at the same time not be dull and colorless. This lead to gray and sky blue them with varying hues, levels of contrast, and shades. The theme starts off light and gets progressively darker as the page progresses guiding the eye, and encouraging the user to scroll and see more information. Headings are clean and easily discernable throughout. The content layout varies from section to section so that the distcion between services, materials, and scale of projects is more apparent. Images and sections have clean edges as would big Granite slabs such as those that form beautiful kitchen islands.
